Dude!
The wheel was invented a long time ago --- Move On!
The Civil War picture from the brochure was a perfect pre-made center for a scrapbook page. Plain white paper with this in the middle, a few of my pix, a couple other brochure clippings, and BAM! A couple of red and blue stars and I was ready to roll on to the next page.
Dude, don't work too hard!

Dude! Don't Rain on My Parade!
Dude!
Like I said last time, I was on a road trip. I drove the length of the Natchez Trace Parkway. There wasn't as much to see as there was on other trips and, when I got to some of the most interesting spots, it was pouring rain so I just kept on driving.
But, dude, that didn't ruin the scrapbook!
I wasn't sure what to do, but having a gray background was most appropriate. Then I remembered the highway sicker that was in scrap box from years ago and -- Dude! The perfect way to remember that drive!

Dude! It's Been a While!
Dude!
It's been a while. What, about seven years, right?
How you doin'?
Listen, there've been a lot of changes --- new jobs, new degrees, new address --- and new scrapbook work!
I thought I should let you see some pix to catch up with what's been happening. So let's take a new direction here.
I'll be just showing pix of scrapbook pages and talking about them. Less talk about how to scrapbook like a man and more leading by example.
So here goes:
I was on a road trip through the South, stopping at National Park Service sites along the way. I spent an hour or so at Arkansas Post in (duh!) Arkansas one morning. I didn't get many pix but they gave me a stack of free postcards at the gift shop.
So, since my photo collection was limited and getting the postcards was a part of the story, well, as you can see, they became the background for this little page. Add a few clippings from the brochure and, dude, I was done.
Dude! It's a scrapbook. Leverage the name for all it's worth!

Dude! Make a Resolution!
Dude! As guys we often think that more is always better. Dude! That's not always so!

I mean, on the page above the more is better policy we have went terribly wrong. There are way too many stickers. More is not always better!
Make a new years resolution to keep that more is better idea thing for things like steak, fries, and pie.
Dude! Happy New Year!

Dude! Look Around!
Dude! When you're out mountain climbing or sailing or on other adventures you know the view is way bigger than the viewfinder on your camera. Dude! You can fix that problem!
Just take a series of pix while standing in one location, tape them together, then trim the up and glue them down. All of a sudden you've got a panoramic shot that tells more about the view.

Yes, you can make pan shots from these via your computer. But I've found that I can't get the full size that I want to include in my scrapbook to print out sufficiently well.
Besides, you're a guy so that means you're not afraid of a do-it-yourself project and can take some pride in your job well done.
Dude! That's Awesome!

Dude! They Were Wrong!
Dude! If you're reading this then you know that the whole 12/12/12 thing was wrong. It also means you'd better get working on that scrapbook!
See, we only knew about the Mayan culture because of what was left to withstand the test of time. Now, don't expect your scrapbook to have as much influence as the Mayans, but, dude!, you're getting to decide what things to remember the most.
Choose what you want your children and grandchildren to remember about you and their times with you then make the scrapbook page. Be a man and take charge of those memories!
Of course, if the Mayan calendar was right, then never mind, Dude!

Dude! Keep Your Edge!
Dude! Remember when you were a kid and all the pix you took on your instamatic came back with white all around the edges? Dude! Do it again!
If you mount your pix on white and make a clean edge around them it will give them that classic look and provide a unity among the prints, especially if they are all different sizes.

The classic white trim will make you look like a pro no matter what color background you choose. And when you're pages look professional, the girls get jealous.
